Where is Casares del Sol?

Casares del Sol is THE golfing destination in southern Spain. Easy flights into Malaga or Gibralter make this one of the most popular resorts for golfing holidays. There are fifteen golf courses within a 3-15 minute drive and six courses very close to the resort including the Jack Nicklaus Golfing Academy next door which will provide 5* facilities due to open autumn 2006. The Elegance Dona Julia Golf Club offers two 18 hole courses and one nine hole course. There will be two further nine hole courses at Casares Golf and Gardens and an 18 hole course just to the north of the complex, due to open autumn 2006.

Valderama - World famous course, home to the Volvo Masters, the Ryder Cup (1997) and the World Golf Championships. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this is one of the continent's toughest challenges. The famous par-5 17th features a green with bunkers behind and slopes forward to an emerald lake—a favourite with spectators yet feared by players.
San Roque - an exacting challenge for even the most experienced of golfers including the tricky 18th. A new course has recently opened designed by Perry Dye and Seve Ballesteros that complements the existing course.
Sotogrande - the grandfather of clubs in Andalucia, opened in 1994 is still considered to be in the top 10 of European courses. It has well established vegetation and numerous water hazards making this an interesting and challenging course.

A magical Andalusian village that has been preserved in every way, just a 10 minute drive away. Make sure you park and have a look around every corner there are examples of art and history. In 1978 Casares was declared an Historical-Artistic Complex.

Casares is a friendly town that loves sharing its history with visitors. Restaurants serving traditional Spanish food eg ‘pringa’ bread dipped in sauce, ‘tortas fritas’, ‘pescaito frito’ fried fish and warm home made bread are just a sample of the dishes to tempt you.

Casares climate is exceptional, cool mountain breezes are a refreshing break from the hot sun on the coast. The views are spectacular and a great place to get away from it all and relax.

The port of Puerto de la Duquesa is a 5 minute drive away: the harbour has every type of restaurant and bar you could wish for. The local town of Sabinillas is just a 2 minute drive, has plenty of restaurants and bars along the promenade and a weekly market.

Aquamijas Waterpark-family friendly aterpark at the heart of the Costa del Sol. Open May through September. The park offers everything for a full day of sun and exciting water adventures. Great value.
